Kids, Teens, and Chiropractic: What Two 2026 Studies Found
When it comes to your child's health, you want care that is gentle, thoughtful, and built around their needs. Two recent studies released in September 2026 give a closer look at why families take kids to the chiropractor and how parents describe their experience.
WHY FAMILIES TURN TO CHIROPRACTIC
Investigators in Australia and Canada analyzed visits from 605 young patients, age 17 and younger, treated by 79 chiropractors. (1) Health maintenance was the most common reason for seeking care in each age group, indicating that many parents see chiropractic as part of keeping their kids active and healthy. Back problems were the most common issue chiropractors diagnosed, and teens made up nearly half of all visits. That's no surprise, since growing bodies, heavy backpacks, sports, and long stretches of screen time all challenge young spines.
FAMILIES FEEL HEARD AND VALUED
Another study surveyed 671 parents before and after their child's course of chiropractic care. (2) Parents evaluated three aspects of their experience: communication, shared decision-making, and the respect and warmth offered by the chiropractor and office team. Overall, parents reported favorable experiences across all three areas, and their satisfaction with care was positive. In short, parents felt listened to, part of the decision-making, and treated kindly, which means so much when the patient is your child.
