Largo Knee Osteoarthritis and Back Pain and Falls

Lumbar spinal stenosis and knee osteoarthritis. The link? They’re both age-related degenerative diseases. (1) Some of us may avoid them, but those who are not so lucky can depend on on their Largo chiropractor at Hollstrom & Associates Inc to intervene when asked and help with chiropractic spinal manipulation, nutritional advice, and understanding.

KOA and LSS

They are such little abbreviations for such uncomfortable conditions. Knee osteoarthritis (KOA) affects 27 million people. (5) Degenerative changes in the spine are evident in upwards of 95% of those over 50. Spinal stenosis is most evident in adults 60 and older. (6) Degeneration of cartilage has a role in each. Pain stems from each. When combined in one person, these two conditions may alter clinical outcomes for each. Lumbar spinal stenosis patients who choose back surgery for their condition and also suffer with knee osteoarthritis find their recoveries a bit less beneficial in terms of social life and activities. Their KOA makes it hard to do routine work or ordinary activities due to knee pain or restricted knee range of motion. Authors of this paper suggested tempering surgical outcome predictions in patients who are inflicted with KOA. (1) Hollstrom & Associates Inc uses Largo chiropractic services to help back pain and knee pain sufferers feel better.

THE IMPORTANCE OF ADDRESSING KNEE AND OTHER PAIN

It is pretty hard to ignore Largo back pain and knee pain. People with any type of low back pain and KOA had 2.7 times higher risk of recurrent falls. People with moderate to severe low back pain and KOA were 3.7 times more at risk for falls. (2) Patients with KOA and widespread pain vs patients with KOA and low back pain vs patients with KOA and multijoint pain vs those with KOA only, patients who have widespread pain and KOA described feeling worse with higher measures of pain sensitization, less function and poorer physical performance. (3) Hollstrom & Associates Inc can improve things though.
